Bringing the Race Track to Life: Omegarender & Apex Circuit Design 3D Visualization Case Study

How we started

Since 2018, Omegarender has been visualizing Aerial 3D Rendering Services and 3D Site Plan Rendering Services for Apex’s race circuits. The smooth curves of these looped tracks always look different — each has its unique design and location, carefully adapted to the surrounding landscape and environment. From deserts and forests to bustling megacities, our portfolio features dozens of diverse projects created in collaboration with Apex Circuit Design.

Our partnership with Apex is not only long-term but also truly global in scope. The project geography spans the USA, Australia, Sweden, Mongolia, China, Hungary — and Apex shows no signs of slowing down. As the company puts it:

“Apex is entering an exciting growth phase, working on projects across the US, Africa, Europe, and China. Our international portfolio continues to expand, and we have some very exciting plans in the pipeline. One area we’re especially focused on is hybrid venues that combine motorsport with broader recreational, commercial, and community spaces. These projects are all about creating long-term value — not only for our clients but for local communities as well.”

Years, global reach, ambitious projects — it all sounds impressive. But can a photorealistic digital image play a decisive role in building something as complex as a racing circuit? Let’s find out.

How Apex Circuit Design used visualization to drive early-stage buy-in for a city-center F1 venue

When Apex Circuit Design began exploring a bold new concept for a Formula 1 race in downtown Miami, they knew that traditional architectural plans alone wouldn’t be enough. This wasn’t just about showing where the asphalt would go — it was about capturing the energy of the event, the dynamism of the crowd, and the way the city would feel during race weekend.

So they turned to Omegarender.

“For motorsport and mixed-use venues, it’s not just about showing what the facility will look like,” says the Apex team. “It’s about really conveying how it’ll feel to the people who’ll be there... the thrill of the racing, the buzz in the stands, and the overall atmosphere. That’s something that’s tough to get across with technical drawings alone.”

These visuals weren’t just design tools — they were strategic instruments.

“The renderings helped bring the concept to life for investors and local authorities, many of whom weren’t familiar with what a city-center motorsport venue could actually look like,” says Apex. “They allowed people to imagine how the circuit could integrate with the city’s landscape and become a vibrant part of the urban environment — even if only for one weekend a year. The thrill of the racing, the buzz in the stands, and the overall atmosphere — that’s something that’s tough to get across with technical drawings alone. But with strong visuals, everyone’s on the same page. It makes it easier for our clients to make confident decisions.”

Although the final track would eventually shift to the Hard Rock Stadium location, the early investor buy-in, driven by visualization, was crucial for moving the project forward and demonstrating its feasibility.

For us, that’s how our studio’s mission takes shape — to set trends, challenge outdated standards, and inspire the industry to embrace bold ideas.

Why Visualization Mattered

From masterplanning complex venues to communicating across international teams, Apex works in a high-stakes, high-speed environment. Visualization acts as both translator and amplifier, helping different contributors — from government officials to race fans — speak the same visual language.

“Strong visuals put everyone on the same page,” Apex reflects. “They make it easier for clients to make confident decisions.”

One of the key differentiators for Omegarender was its attention to detail and atmosphere:

“Lighting plays a huge role in bringing scenes to life,” Apex noted. “It helps convey the mood and time of day, which makes the visuals feel truly immersive. We also really appreciate the technical accuracy compared to competition — Omega's team understands motorsport deeply, which is critical for this type of project.”

Beyond technical excellence, Omegarender's consistency also stood out. “The style and approach were cohesive across all images, which created a clear and engaging story. And they always delivered fast, without ever compromising quality.” As you see, speed and quality design are the essential link between visualization teams and race track designers.

All of the above is perfectly reflected in the Beijing Street Circuit project. Our visualization focused on precision and detail, using advanced 3D modeling to represent the 4.9-kilometre track and its surroundings. Aerial views and street-level perspectives convey the circuit’s unique character, helping racing fans and investors appreciate the scale, complexity, and beauty of this new street circuit.

Or we can address to ETR Motopark project — a race track surrounded by thick forest. Omegarender recreated every detail from scratch, focusing on realistic lighting, material textures, and environmental integration. Aerial perspectives showcase the full scale of the racetrack, while dynamic lighting setups emphasize the sleek design of the buildings and pit lanes. Each rendering balances the sharp, engineered lines of the track with the lush, natural forest backdrop, demonstrating how the motorpark blends into its environment.

A Collaborative Approach That Delivers

Apex’s projects span continents and cultures — from the USA to  Africa — each with its regulatory frameworks, planning cultures, and community expectations. In such a setting, visualization must do more than just impress; it has to build trust.

“Omega’s team has been amazing to work with,” Apex says. “Their strength and depth mean there’s always someone knowledgeable and responsive ready to help. That made the whole process smooth and collaborative.”

For us, Apex is one of the most striking examples that reflect the core strengths of our studio:

•Exceptional Art Direction: A creative approach that transforms every project into a work of art, adding uniqueness to every visualization.

High-Comfort Communication: Transparency, fast feedback, and clear coordination at every stage of the project.

Adaptability: Agile workflow adjustments based on client and market needs.

3D rendering has also in turn led to revealing the Apex approach — Masterplanning with a Bigger Vision and Sustainability at the Core:

“When we design a track, our goal is to make it as exciting as possible for everyone involved — drivers, officials, fans,” says the Apex team. “But good masterplanning goes beyond the track. We think about spectator experience, venue flexibility, and how it integrates with the environment.”

“We see sustainability as two equally important pillars: commercial sustainability and environmental sustainability,” they explain.“It’s vital to make sure the facility generates revenue year-round — not just on race weekends. And environmentally, we push boundaries: from efficient design to protecting biodiversity and reusing landscape features wherever possible.”

Beyond the Race Track

International projects come with their challenges — something Apex was happy to share with us:

“International projects come with complex challenges. It’s not just about navigating planning regulations. You need to understand cultural preferences and community concerns, which vary from place to place. Communication is key. We invest time in listening to stakeholders at every level, adapting our proposals to fit naturally within the local context. Our team brings strong cultural sensitivity alongside technical fluency. That helps us anticipate potential roadblocks — whether they’re regulatory hurdles, community expectations, or subtle local nuances that could impact acceptance.”

As Apex moves into a new phase of global expansion, it continues to explore hybrid venues that blend motorsport with recreation, commerce, and community uses — projects that require a holistic and emotionally resonant vision from the earliest stages. Visualization remains at the center of that strategy.

“Omegarender’s visuals consistently elevate our projects,” they conclude. “They transform complex design ideas into compelling, evocative images that engage stakeholders and bring our vision to life.”

Our studio has grown alongside Apex, continuously expanding our expertise and capabilities. Our shared experience has helped us not just find our footing but become true game changers in our field. And we will keep visualizing race circuits for Apex, so that our dynamic, eye-catching imagery doesn’t just take visual form, but blends seamlessly into the roar of engines, the screech of tires, and the buzz of the crowd.
